Instructure, the company that operates the College’s learning management system Canvas, has notified Emerson College that we are one of many institutions across the country impacted by a data security incident affecting Instructure's systems. Canvas itself remains fully operational and Instructure has announced that they have remediated the associated security issues that led to this incident, which is being widely reported. Instructure has also stated there is no indication that passwords, dates of birth, government identifiers, or financial information were involved.
At this stage, Instructure has not provided details about what specific Emerson data or users were involved. We will update impacted users as information becomes available. There is no action required of faculty, staff, or students at this time.
