At approximately 1am, we identified the issue. The root cause was that we have two servers that hand out IP addresses to student devices, and they work as a pair, but they were not communicating with one another and that was causing them to fail to hand out new IP addresses. So we disabled one and now the other is handling everyone.
We verified that the students who reported issues are now getting IP addresses on their devices. We are investigating the root cause of the communication failure.

We have received and confirmed a number of reports of residents in 2 Boylston Place and the Colonial Building struggling to connect or stay connected to Wi-Fi this evening. We are investigating the issue actively and expect to have a fix implemented by tomorrow.
